William Cuthbert diary, 1862.

William Cuthbert was a member of the first Holmes Expedition by the Northern Route to Montana. He stayed briefly in the Deer Lodge Valley and then moved on to the Dalles, in Oregon. This collection consists of brief handwritten and typescript extracts from a diary (May 14-September 16, 1862) which covers that expedition. Also includes a partial roster of members of the group.
